The Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department battled three fires from Saturday to Monday morning.

• The fire department responded to a stove fire at 6301 State Avenue on Saturday at 5:30 a.m. A structural fire, it caused roughly $300 in damage.

"Crews on scene within three minutes of a reported fire on a mobile home," said Craig Duke, spokesperson for the department. "Crews reported light smoke showing, on investigation found stove on fire. Fire was extinguished within five minutes."

Seventeen personnel members of the department responded to it. Everyone was safely evacuated .

• A Sunday morning fire just shortly after 5 a.m. was reported at 4357 Victory Drive. About 25 members of the department responded the structural fire. The cause remains under investigation.

"Crews on scene within four minutes reported smoke coming from the rear of the structure," Duke said. "Fire was under control within 15 minutes. No occupants at home at time of fire."

The fire caused $8,500 in damage.

• A third fire was reported this morning at 3218 Tauromee.

Like the second fire, it caused $8,500 in damage and the cause is being investigating by the department.

"Crews on scene within three minutes reported smoke coming from a one story structure," Duke said. "Fire crews found mattress on fire in bedroom. The fire was extinguished within 10 minutes. All occupants were out of the structure upon arrival."

There were no injuries in any of the fires.

Not in reference to any fire but what happened on Waverly and 57th Street on Sunday night? I came home and there were about 5 cop cars and a coroner van. I didn't stick around to get details but I would like to know what happened right down the street since it includes a coroner.
None of the news websites has anything about it, does anyone know?
