Accidents, slick roads being reported all over
Bridges, exit and entrance ramps and side streets are starting to get a little nasty.
Here are some accidents over the past hour or so. There are a few more, but I haven't received enough information on them yet.
- Interstate 635 and State Avenue: A one vehicle which caused no injuries. The black vehicle slid into a ditch near the exit and entrance ramp areas.
- Interstate 635 and Interstate 70: A similar accident happened. No injury.
- 18th and Steele Road: An accident caused minor injuries.
- A minor accident was reported on Interstate 435 somewhere in Wyandotte County.
Along with those accidents and others mentioned earlier today, numerous slick roads are being reported and road crews are being called out to address slick spots.
Needless to say, proceed with caution.

Parkinson suspends provisions of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act in response to storms
Kansas Gov. Mark Parkinson signed a State of Disaster Emergency today in response to the three winter storms that have hit the State of Kansas in the past two weeks.
The declaration calls for a five-day suspension of provisions in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act which involves hours of service. Because of this, propane suppliers will be allowed to work longer hours to provide supply across the state.
Wyandotte County is among the counties listed in the declaration.
“With temperatures in the single digits during the day and dropping to well below zero at night, Kansans are using more heating fuel than normal,” Parkinson said. “In order to protect the health and safety of Kansans, I am suspending the ‘hours of service’ provisions so that adequate supplies of propane can be delivered to Kansans to keep them warm this week.”

Winter Weather
I've been reading with interest how much snow has fallen. I, always, enjoyed the snow while I lived there; however, I hated driving on the hills. Guess I don't miss that part. Good luck to all!

Based on early estimations, areas of Wyandotte County received between four to five inches of snow.
Here are some photos of what that looks like, along with the foot the area received last week.
